Notice of Race
1. ORGANIZING AUTHORITY
The 2008 Platu 25 World Championship is organized by the Heraklion Sailing Club, under the auspices of Municipality of Crete ,University of Crete ,Prefecture of Heraklion and Heraklion Port Authority under the authority of Hellenic Sailing Federation (EIO), in cooperation with the Greek Platu 25 class Association and the International Platu 25 class Association.
2. RULES
2.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing
Rules of Sailing, 2008 - 2011
2.2 IPCA Rules & Regulations
2.3 All races will be category 5.
e) Between 20:00 and 06:00 Greek Summer Time, Part 2 of the RRS will cease to apply and be replaced Steering and Sailing Rules of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea
2.4 No national authority prescription will apply
2.5. If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
2.6 The sailing instructions can modify some of the above motioned points
3. ADVERTISING
The event is classified as category C under ISAF Advertising Code , Regulation 20. All boats shall display advertisements on the first 20% of hull length given by the organizer. While not racing, boats shall display flags given by the organizer. The Organizing Authority may also require the installation, at no cost to competitors, of onboard video cameras, or global position devices. Not complying with these rules may be object of penalization.
4. ELIGIBILITY
4.1 Owners or helmsmen shall be members of the IPCA for the year 2008 and each boat must present a measurement
certificate at registration
4.2 The participants will have to fulfil with the conditions of the eligibility reflected in the regulation 19 of the ISAF
4.3 a maximum number of 100 boats will accepted
5. Penalties
RRs 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn including one tack and one jibe is required. This changes
RSS 44.1 and 44.2
6. ENTRIES and ENTRY FEE
6.1. Eligible boats may enter by submitting the Online Entry Form to the Official website of the event www.platu25worlds08.gr
6.2 The non-refundable entry fee of € 350 perboat plus bank charges and transfer fees should be forwarded to:

6.3 A boat is considered to be registered to the event if the following actions are received before August 30, 2008:
a) Complete the Online Entry form
b) Attach the Entry Fee payment confirmation
6.4 The organizer is not responsible for any costs incurred by the non-acceptance of a boat's registration.
6.5 Late entries, accompanied by a late entry fee of € 500 may be accepted at organizer’s discretion.
7. Measurement and Registration
7.1 Measurement, registration and launching shall take place at Heraklion Port ( see appendix 1 ) Marina. Please keep in
mind that yachts shall be launched until 14th of September 18.00hrs.
7.2 All crews are required to weigh in at the race office. Please be aware that you can ONLY weigh in with your ID or
passport.
7.3 When all measurement and registration criteria are completed to the satisfaction of the Chief Measurer and Register
eligibility will be confirmed and the Sls issued. The following shall be presented to complete registration:
a) Receipt of a completed entry form, entry fee and late payment fee, if applicable.
b) Proof that the owner and/or helmsman are members of the IPCA and have paid their membership fee for 2008.
c) Proof of a third party liability insurance (property and injury) with an amount of EUR 1.500.000,00 covering the person in charge (RRS 46) during the regatta required.
d) Copy of the boat’s valid International Measurement Certificate.
e) Completed measurement and registration forms.
f) A crew list with individual weights recorded at the official crew weigh –in.
g) Each crewmember has to personally register at the race office and sign the media rights waiver form. Upon signing the media rights waiver form each crewmember will receive their accreditation card.
7.4 Boat, crew, equipment and sails may be subject to re-measurement at any time. Sails safety equipment and crew
weight have to be checked before the first start and may be re-checked therefore the jury may order spot checks on the
water Each Owner or Skipper must register in the Race Office .

9. Sail Inventory
8.1 The sail inventory shall comply with Rule C10 Platu 25 Rules.
8.2 The Sails so stamped shall not exceed in numbers the maximum permitted under Rule C.10.2 Platu 25 Rules.
10. Substitution of Crew
10.1 A member of the crew may only be substituted for reasons of injury , illness or serious unforeseen personal
circumstances.
10.2 The number of crew cannot be changed.
10.3 Any changes have to be approved by the jury in writing prior to talking effect and the new crew member(s) officially
weighed in.
10.4 The change of (a) crew member(s) shall be lodged at the Race Office before 09.00hrs of the day the change will take
effect.

11. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available for each entrant on completion of the registration formalities.
12. SCORING
The Low Point Scoring System of RRS Appendix A will apply 12 races are scheduled of which 4 are required to constitute a series and a boat’s series score shall be the total of her race scores. From 5 to 8 races the worst score will be excluded. For 9 races and more there will be two discards
13. INTERNATIONAL JURY
An International Jury appointed according to the RRS Appendix N, will supervise the event, with no right of appeal according to the RRS 70.4.
14. Coach and support boats
All coach and support boats have to be registered at the race office and shall be marked with the national flag of the country they represent. They may be required to display bow numbers, provided by the OA at registration. Coach and support boats are urgently reminded to follow all speed regulations nearby the harbour
15. Moorings
Mooring will be available at Heraklion Port ( Henecian Port )
15.1 Boats wishing to arrive before 10th of September or depart after 21st of September 14.00hrs, shall make arrangements with and pay required fees to the Race Office . Any launching pr haul-out outside this period or more than one haul-in/out will be at extra cost.
15.2 All boats shall be afloat by 12th of September 18.00hrs. Boats shall not be hauled out before the end of the regatta except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the jury.
15.3 Haul-in after measurement is completed and haul-out after the last race of the series is free of charge.
15.4 Boats shall be berthed at no costs overnight in Henecian Port of Heraclion from 10th of September to 21st of September inclusive.
15.5 Each boat shall have a designated berthing spot.
15.6 Haul-out after the conclusion of the regatta shall take place to a pre-announced priority order.
15.7Hull cleaning underwater breathing apparatus and snorkels or their equivalent shall not be used around boats from 15th of September to the conclusion of the regatta
Craning by any means for the purpose of cleaning or inspecting the hull is prohibited
The hull may be cleaned at any time by swimming or keelhauling using ropes or clothe
16. Media rights
Competitors, owners and their guests give absolute right and permission to the Organizing Authority for any photography and video footage taken of persons and boats during the event, to be published and/or broadcast in any media, including but not limited to TV advertisements, whatsoever for either editorial or advertising purposes or to be used in press information.
17. Radio Communication
A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
18. Trophies and Prizes
The winner of the 2008 Platu 25 world championship will be awarded the Platu 25 World cup. Prizes will be awarded to all crew members of the top 10 boats .
19. Disclaimer of Liability
All those taking part in the regatta do so at their own risk and responsibility. The Organizing Authority, club, HSF and any other party involved in the organization of the 2008 World Championship disclaim any and all responsibility whatsoever for loss, damage injury or inconvenience that might occur to persons and materials, both ashore and at sea as a consequence of participation in the event. Each boat owner or his representative accepts these terms by signing the entry form.The attention of competitors is drawn to ISAF Part 1 Fundamental Rule 4: “A boat is solely responsible for deciding whether or not to start or to continue racing
20. Insurance
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party insurance with a minimum cover of EUR 2.400.000,00 per event. Anyway, it is the responsibility of the owners to hold adequate insurance cover for Tort Liability and Third Party Insurance (Property and Persons).
